North Shore Give Week

North Shore Give Week starts this Friday and continues for one week. More than 10 events to participate in and give back to our community.

Friday, 9/20:
Free Movie-in-the-Park: Prince Albert Park; Movie begins at dusk

Kick off North Shore Give Week with the movie If, starring Ryan Reynolds, a family-friendly movie-in-the-park hosted by the PHCA and P2CA. Bring blankets, chairs, and picnic and join in for a fun evening under the stars. Parking is very limited, so please walk if you can and bring a flashlight.

Saturday, 9/21:
Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay Kuhio Highway Cleanup: Meet at Princeville Foodland, 8:00am

The Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay has adopted a stretch of highway in Princeville that’s notoriously dirty as trash blows off loads destined for the nearby transfer station.

Saturday, 9/21, 9:00am:
Kauai North Shore Lions Club at Kauai Christian Academy, Kilauea

Volunteers are welcome to help build or repair benches around the school’s basketball court. Please wear sunscreen and closed-toe shoes, and bring water. Also bring gloves and paint brushes/rollers if you have them. Meet the group at the basketball court.

Sunday, 9/22:
Picnic-in-the-Park & Kickball Tournament by Hanalei Initiative: Wai’oli Town Park (Hanalei Soccer Fields), starts at 12:00pm

Join the fun at the picnic-in-the-park with food, music, keiki activities, climbing wall, kickball tournament, and more.

Various dates: Kauaʻi Forest Bird Recovery Project

The Kauaʻi Forest Bird Recovery Project during North Shore Give Week is hosting a few events for the public to meet the authors of PAU -The Last Song of the Kauaʻʻōʻō, talk story, and learn about our native forest birds. Schedule:

Tuesday, 9/24:
County Council Election Candidates Meet-n-Greet: Princeville Community Center, 5:30pm

So far, 8 of the 14 candidates have indicated they’ll attend this event. Light refreshments will be served.

Wednesday, 9/25
Kilauea PTSA Field Trip with Reef Guardians: Anini Beach, 10:00am

Kilauea School 3rd-grade students will learn about our tiny reef residents using microscopes to see up close creatures such as sea snails, urchins, and anemones. This hands-on experience will be held outdoors at Anini Beach and include learning about marine conservation and understanding the importance of protecting our reefs.

Thursday, 9/26
ʻĀina Alliance Junk Cars & Trash Removal: Anahola, 8:30am

About 120 high school students will get an education on heavy equipment as ʻĀina Alliance and volunteers use excavators and large machines to remove 20 or more junked cars from a 10-acre area in Anahola. This project aims to enhance the beauty and safety of our places by removing illegally dumped vehicles, dumped appliances, trash, and toxins.

Friday, 9/27
Ohana FitFest Pre-Event Fun: Makai Grill @ the Princeville Makai Golf Club, 3:00pm – 6:00pm

Runners and walkers are encouraged to come to the Friday Pre-Event Fun to avoid the registration and check-in lines on Saturday, pick up their race bib and free Ohana FitFest hat, and enjoy live Hawaiian music by Paul Grace and Aunty Charlotte. Ohana FitFest runners/walkers who attend the Friday Pre-Event Fun will be entered into a drawing for $100 dining at Ama in Hanalei.

Saturday, 9/28
Ohana FitFest: Registration/Checkin open 6:30am

North Shore Give Week is hosted by North Shore Give in collaboration with 30 charities and nonprofits located and serving the North Shore of Kauai.
