Comprehensive Resources for Princeville, Kilauea and Hanalei residents and visitors

Gift of Health 2026: Supporting Healthcare on Kauai’s North Shore

Makana Urgent Care

Whether you live on Kauaʻi’s North Shore or are a visitor, close access to quality healthcare matters.

From surfing injuries and unexpected illnesses to everyday medical concerns, Makana North Shore Urgent Care serves as an important healthcare resource for residents, families, workers, and visitors across Haena, Wainiha, Hanalei, Princeville, Kīlauea, and other communities.

That’s why North Shore Give launched the Gift of Health 2026 campaign, a community effort focused on strengthening medical care through upgraded equipment, improved diagnostic tools, and expanded urgent care capabilities.

Why Healthcare Access Matters on the North Shore

One challenge of living and vacationing on Kauaʻi’s North Shore is limited access to medical services nearby. There is no hospital on the North Shore and Makana North Shore Urgent Care is the only urgent care in the area. Especially important during emergencies and unexpected health concerns. Makana provides medical care for injuries and illnesses, family healthcare services, Visitor medical support, and diagnostic testing.

For both residents and visitors, having trusted medical care nearby helps create a safer and healthier North Shore community.

What Gift of Health Supports

The Gift of Health 2026 campaign is raising funds for important medical equipment and facility upgrades that directly improve patient care and emergency readiness.

This year’s priorities include:

  • Patient monitors for continuous cardiac monitoring
  • Hematology analyzer to rapidly identify infection and illness through blood testing
  • Adjustable exam table to improve patient comfort and accessibility during treatment and exams
  • Chemistry analyzer for rapid diagnosis of organ function
  • Defibrillator for emergency cardiac response
  • And more

A Community Effort

The 2026 fundraising goal is $75,000. During the recent North Shore Give Auction & Gala, the community raised $25,000 toward that goal, and efforts are now underway to raise the remaining balance through the Gift of Health campaign.

Every donation directly supports healthcare access on Kauaʻi’s North Shore and helps strengthen services for:

  • Visitors staying in Princeville, Hanalei, and nearby communities
  • Local families and kupuna
  • Keiki and students
  • North Shore workers and businesses
