Princeville Library Reopens with Major Enhancements

After an extensive renovation, the Princeville Public Library officially reopened to the community today. Located at 4343 Emmalani Drive on Kauai’s North Shore, the updated facility now offers a safer, more accessible, and more comfortable environment for patrons of all ages.

Renovation Highlights

The library underwent a $7 million improvement project that included:

  • A complete replacement of the air-conditioning system

  • Interior structural repairs and upgrades

  • Fresh paint and new flooring throughout

  • Accessibility enhancements to improve safety and convenience

These improvements modernize the space while preserving its vital role in serving the Princeville and greater North Shore communities.

Grand Reopening Celebration

The grand reopening was held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. The celebration included a brief welcome ceremony, followed by live music, refreshments, a historical walk, puppet-making workshops, and other family-friendly activities from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m.

State Librarian Stacey A. Aldrich commented, “We are thrilled to finally be able to reopen to the community and look forward to welcoming everyone back into the renovated space … just in time for the community to participate in the Summer Reading Challenge.”
